Frontwoman Fest Mixtape

Frontwoman Fest brings 12 bands to Chicago's Burlington Bar this Saturday. The all-day event features, as its name suggests, a lineup of bands with female lead singers. Haki, Bleach Party, Soddy Daisy, Strawberry Jacuzzi, The Baby Magic and more play the fest, starting at 2 p.m. If you are not familiar with all the bands, or if you just want to get pumped up for an awesome show, Impossible Colors has released a mixtape featuring songs from the full lineup.

Impossible Colors is doing a limited physical release of the mixtape on cassette. Stream the mixtape below. Buy the cassette or a download at the Impossible Colors bandcamp page. Proceeds from the cassette and the show on Saturday go toward Girls Rock! Chicago, a non-profit organization providing music education for girls. The mixtape has a healthy variety of musical styles. I already knew how fun Haki, Bleach Party and Soddy Daisy are and this is the kind of release that is sure to turn me on to new bands as well. The Baby Magic and Strawberry Jacuzzi immediately caught my ear. Check it out for yourself:

The RPMs released their first set of demos last week. The band features Dave Anians and Dave Green together again. They play the White Tavern in Naperville on Friday with All the Wine and Seasonal Men's Wear. Pay what you want for a download at their bandcamp page or stream The Warehouse Sessions below.

After The Fall released "Dedication," the title track from their upcoming album out on Bridge Nine Records on May 12. This is the fifth full-length album for the Albany-based trio. "Dedication" is also set to appear on a 7-inch coming out on Paper + Plastick Records on April 7. Karl Alvarez of The Descendents plays bass on the song "Dedication" while Chad Price of ALL and Jon Snodgrass handle backing vocals. Stream the new track below.

For all you pizza lovers, and I know there are a lot of you in the punk scene, check out the first tracks from My Pizza My World. The Eat It! EP bakes banjo, cheese, trumpet and tomato sauce into a pretty tasty pie. The band includes Whitney Flynn of the folk punk group Days N Daze. Fans of that band will be right at home with My Pizza My World. They are currently touring the Southwest. While they do not have any dates scheduled out this way, you can catch shows from related bands coming up soon: Escape From the Zoo! plays at Mount Happy in Pilsen on Saturday night and Days N Daze play the Disastr House in Rockford on March 27. Listen to the new My Pizza My World EP below. If you really love pizza, "Satan Pussy Pizza" is the song for you.
